1. Data controller

Steer AI is the data controller for personal data processed through our waitlist and application. You can reach us at hello@getsteerai.com.

2. What we collect

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service:

• Waitlist — email address. Used to notify you when early access opens. Optionally: your county and whether you are a learner, instructor, or parent/sponsor.
• App — short drive clips (~13 seconds).Video and audio captured around moments your phone’s sensors flag as worth reviewing. Your full drive is never recorded.
• App — motion and GPS data. Accelerometer, gyroscope, and GPS readings used to detect and timestamp the moments that trigger a clip. Raw sensor streams are not stored after clip creation.
• App — coaching reports. The AI-generated grade and coaching text for each clip, stored so you can review your history.

3. Legal basis

We process your data on the basis of consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw consent at any time by contacting us. Withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out.

4. How we use your data

• To send you early-access notifications and product updates (waitlist email).
• To analyse your clips and generate AI coaching reports (app).
• To improve the accuracy of our AI model, using anonymised and aggregated data only.

We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it for any purpose unrelated to the coaching service.

5. Retention

• Waitlist email: retained until six months after Steer AI launches, or until you ask us to remove you — whichever comes first.
• Clips and coaching reports: retained for the duration of your account. You can delete individual clips or your entire account at any time from within the app.

6. Third-party processors

We use a small number of third-party services to operate Steer AI, including cloud infrastructure and AI model providers. All processors are bound by data processing agreements and are located within the EEA or in countries with adequate protection decisions under GDPR.

7. Your rights

Under GDPR you have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Correct inaccurate data.
• Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”).
• Restrict or object to processing.
• Receive your data in a portable format.
• Withdraw consent at any time.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@getsteerai.com. We will respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Data Protection Commission (Ireland).

8. Cookies

Our website uses no tracking or advertising cookies. We may set a session cookie strictly necessary for the waitlist confirmation flow. No third-party analytics scripts are loaded without your consent.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be communicated by email to waitlist members and, once the app launches, via an in-app notice.
